Two Squadrons Meet for First-Ever PT Competition
MARIETTA, Ga. – Cobb County Composite Squadron members joined Marietta Air Museum Cadet Squadron Thursday for a first of its kind joint meeting with Physical Training (PT) testing, competitive games, and the obligatory pizza buffet. 55 cadets and ten senior members attended the meeting at Larry Bell Park enjoyed perfect weather for running the mile. Members from both squadrons encouraged each other to exceed their promotion requirements. But when it came to Ultimate Frisbee, it was all about their team. Some members even used their knowledge of Aerospace Education to improve their targeting results with the frisbee.
Georgia Wing Commander, Col Andrea Van Buren, attended the event and helped transport cadets from the park to the Marietta Squadron’s facility. Cadets then enjoyed a feast of pizza, veggies, and desserts thanks to our senior members and parents of cadets. Later they competed in a game of Human Checkers with a knowledge test where no “piece” moved unless that cadet knew the correct answer. Cobb’s C/2d Lt Harrison Haley and Marietta’s C/CMSgt Vinny Varsalona plotted the game strategy. They directed each piece’s movement when cadets on their team got the correct answers. Cadets responded to questions on the topics of aerospace education, CAP history, leadership, current events and emergency services.

Marietta’s Cadet Executive Officer, C/1st Lt Whitney Reuschel, planned the event. Coordinating with all levels of leadership at both squadrons, it seems like she started a trend to carry on for a long time. You can visit Cobb County Composite Squadron online at owww.ga090.org. We’re excited to have more friendly and fun meetings with our fellow squadrons in the future!
